Recruitment
Process Outsourcing or RPO is nothing but a practice whereby an employer hires
the services of an external provider to take up its recruitment functions.
While some employers
outsource only certain specific function thus keeping their methodologies
intact, the others may even hand out the entire process to the RPO provider
right from head hunting to background checks along with the onus of the
results. The RPO is known to simplify the business processes in more than one
ways. Here’s how –
Cost Efficient
This holds true, especially in the case of
medium-scale enterprises, wherein hiring head hunters or running an entire HR
department usually assumes to be a cost-centre for the business. In such cases
it is rather beneficial to go for RPO. Since the RPO providers are well-versed
in the field, and have their overheads spread across an extensive client base,
it is rather cost-effective and consumes a far less amount of time and efforts
put in.
Scalable
For certain businesses, the number of employees differ
with different seasons. While a clothing retailer may need more salesmen during
the festive times, an hotelier may require extra staff during the summer
season. It is such cases that RPO comes to one’s rescue, whereby the number of employees
hired at a particular time of the year can be conveniently scaled up. This
benefit also extends to companies which are fast growing pertaining to their
needs of adding additional employees on a regular basis.
Consistent
In large firms, spread across various verticals, where
each vertical has its own HR department, it becomes rather taxing for the
candidates to approach each department separately. Moreover, the onus of each
department to maintain contact with the candidates throughout the recruitment
process is time-consuming and often leaves the candidate confused and in
some cases agitated. In such cases the RPO plays an important role in combining
the entire process so as to make it consistent as well as transparent, both for
the potential employees as well as the employers.
Quality Control
As in any other process of the business, quality
control is vital to the function of recruitment as well. Needless to say, it is
not only the academic qualifications that make for a good employee but also his
past credentials teamed with other aspects such as his personality and
aptitude. It is for this reason that RPO serve better in picking just the ideal
candidate for a specific opening. The in-house HR manager may or may not be
acquainted for the needs of every job position, but RPO providers generally
are!
Brand Establishment
More often than not RPO providers not only ease the
business process but also bring about fair, transparent as well as consistent
process of hiring, thereby improving the confidence that the employees place in
their workplace. This combined with the increased efficiency of the entire
work-force, helps to accentuate the employees’ willingness to identify with the
brand created by the business enterprise, which goes a long way in successful
establishment of the goodwill of the same.
